****New Year’s Ice Dive Post Postponed By Thin Ice!

COLORADO CITY, Colo. -- An annual New Year's Day Ice Dive in Pueblo County has been called off for the first time because of thin ice on Lake San Isabel.

A handful of divers from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Bureau Response Teams have been diving on New Year's Day for more than 25 years. Organizers of the dive announced Friday that this year's dive has been canceled because of dangerously thin ice on the lake.

The dive may be rescheduled for February. A spokeswoman for the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says it's the first time on record that the dive has had to be postponed because of ice conditions.

On the other hand, the Ice Dive in Boulder also set for New Year’s Day will go on as scheduled. Hosted by the Young Professionals Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado (YPAAC), the 28th Annual Alzheimer’s Polar Plunge will take place at the Boulder Reservoir. You can registrar online http://alz.org/co/ or at the event beginning at 10 a.m. Online registration is $25 for adults, $20 for teens and kids and includes a free T-shirt. Those registering at the day of the event can purchase a shirt for an additional $20. The first plunge is set for 11:30 a.m., and the money raised in the event will go toward the Colorado Alzeimer’s Association.
