DID YOU KNOW:

We have 50 states?

But do you know that we have 3,141 counties and county equivalents in the 50 States and the District of Columbia?

The US of A is 'broke', the majority of the 50 states are 'broke' and hiding in the shadows of the national and state deficits, are 3,141 counties that could/are/etc. 'broke' too!

I don't even want to think about how many 'cities' there are in the US of A.

How many individuals (of our 310 billion folks) will go 'broke' too?

For a short period in my 70 years on this earth , I was 'wealthy'--money to burn, you might say.

30 years ago I lived in the Sierras and for a few years I sold marijuana (ONLY!) and had a marvelous time!

Just a thought........

****Emotional Letter Announces La Plata County (Co) Layoffs.

(Seven People Laid Off; Another Position Will Go Unfilled.)

DURANGO, Colo. -- The slowdown in the economy and a corresponding reduction in work in La Plata County's Building, Planning and Geographic Information Systems departments has led to layoffs, which were announced in an emotional e-mail.

The Durango Herald reports that county Manager Shawn Nau told employees that they're losing very respected and talented individuals and that laying off friends and co-workers isn't an easy process.

“Impacted employees are being affected because of a lack of workload within their respective departments, not because they are ‘bad people’ or ‘bad employees,’” Nau said in the e-mail, which he provided to the Herald. “Indeed, we know that just the opposite is true. ... We are losing very respected and talented individuals."

In addition to seven layoffs, Nau announced the elimination of another unfilled position and a reduction in hours for three additional positions.

With the latest round of cuts, a total of 18.75 full-time positions have been eliminated in the 2010 and 2011 budgets, representing a savings of $1.4 million.
