****Teen Killed, Another Injured During Burglary, Police Say!
(Police: Pair Tried To Break Into New Orleans East Home.)
NEW ORLEANS -- One teenager was killed and another shot when, police said, they tried to break into a home in New Orleans East on Friday.
Police said the two men, 16 and 15, cut the power and threw a brick through a back window of a home in the 7400 block of Woodbine Drive at about 11:30 a.m.
The occupant of the house was sleeping when heard a noise, New Orleans Police Deputy Superintendent Marlon Defillo said. The man armed himself with a handgun and fired several shots at the teens, who police said were climbing through the window.
The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 15-year-old was taken to an area hospital, Defillo said.
A third teenager, 16, was serving as a lookout for the suspects, police said. He was arrested without incident, according to a police news release.
No charges have been filed against the resident. Police said they would speak with the district attorney's office to determine if any further action was necessary.
