****Yorkville police on hunt for 2,500 missing rubber ducks!!

YORKVILLE — Police are looking for information about the theft of hundreds of rubber ducks used for a charity race.

According to police, about 2,500 small, yellow rubber ducks were taken from the 200 block of West Hydraulic Street sometime this week.

The ducks belong to the Yorkville Citizens Police Academy and are used for the annual “Duck Pluck” event at Hometown Days. The Duck Pluck is major fundrasier for the Citizens Police Academy, which provides assistance and support to the police department.

Participants buy a duck for a few dollars. Ducks are then pulled out and the duck “owner” wins raffle prizes from local businesses. Duck races have been going on in Yorkville since 1991.

Since the toys were stolen, many of them have been found on the road between Yorkville and Sandwich, police said. Anyone who finds a duck is asked to return it to Yorkville, police said.
