Something is amiss here!
I owned a brand new 1974 Datsun B-210--a great little car!
I always got 25-35 MPG!!!!
And TODAY, getting mileage like this takes an act of Congress!
Who's fucking with who??

****Increasing fuel efficiency isn't as easy as many claim!
NEW YORK - With gasoline prices hitting record levels, many people are looking for ways to save. There's plenty of advice, and plenty of misinformation.
Filling your tank in the morning while the fuel is cold and changing your air filter are two common tips, but neither will increase efficiency.
Buying a higher grade of fuel than the automaker recommends won't help either.
"You should only use fuel that the car calls for," veteran mechanic Joe Heffernan said. "Premium fuel will give no better mileage. It may actually hurt the mileage because of a different burn rate."
Heffernan says they should be properly inflated, not under or over.
"You should go by what the door jam says, follow manufacturer's recommendation, under-inflation will definitely hurt mileage," he said.
What about air conditioning? Turning it off will help you save.
"The air conditioning system takes the power of one cylinder, like if you have a six-cylinder car and you turn on the air, you have the power of five cylinders," Heffernan explained. "It uses more gas because you have to push on the gas harder to get some power."
Heffernan says driving the speed limit will save on fuel.
He also recommends taking your car out of overdrive if you're driving around town, and using synthetic oil.
"That will help gas mileage. It's also better for the motor," he said.
Believe it or not, Heffernan says some cars get better mileage on certain brands of gas.
Sounds like a myth, but he says it's true.
Heffernan should know. He's been in the auto business for almost 40 years.
