****Colorado To Create 'Blue Alert'!
DENVER -- Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will sign House Bill 11-1036 into law Thursday creating a "blue alert" system.
Blue alerts will be used to notify the public when a person is on the loose who has killed or seriously injured a peace officer.
The goal is to "facilitate the immediate apprehension of persons who kill or inflict life-threatening injuries upon peace officers," the bill stated.
The bill said a blue alert should include the information about the suspect or suspects along with a warning that members of the public should not attempt to apprehend the suspect or suspects themselves.
Officials hope to have the program in place on January 1, 2012.
